Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal: Illuminating Lives through Vision Care
Lion Manoj Purohit
The Lions Clubs International, often referred to as the "Knights of Blindness" after the inspirational Helen Keller, has always been committed to providing essential eye care services. In District 320A, we take immense pride in our two outstanding Lions Eye Hospitals: Ram Reddy Lions Eye Hospital in Mahaboob Nagar (rural area) and Sadhuram Lions Eye Hospital in Hyderabad (urban area). However, with the expansion of Lions Clubs in rural regions and the growing need for eye care, a new pilot hospital at Kadthal became a necessity. Taking up this noble responsibility, Lions Clubs of Amangal, a senior club in District 320A, initiated the establishment of Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal.
Coming Together for a Visionary Project:
To realize the dream of a new Lions Eye Hospital, the Lions Club of Amangal formed the Lions Club of Amangal Service Trust, spearheading this remarkable endeavor. Several other clubs, including Lions Club Hyd Stars, Lions Club Hyd Balaji Nagar, Lions Club Hyd Everest, Lions Club Hyd Kandukur, and Lions Club Jillelguda Geetanjali, joined hands to contribute to this prestigious project. The support and collaboration of these clubs have been crucial in bringing this vision to life.
Generosity and Support:
The journey began with the generous donation of one acre of land by PDG Lion G. Chennakishan Reddy, who also serves as the trust chairperson. With unwavering dedication, Lion PDG G. Chennakishan Reddy and the participating clubs worked tirelessly to meet the requirements of this permanent project. Recognizing the importance of their efforts, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) provided grants to support the establishment of the Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal.
Serving the Underserved:
Today, Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal stands as a beacon of hope for the people of five mandals, predominantly comprising rural and tribal communities. The hospital provides daily outpatient services, catering to the eye care needs of those who would otherwise struggle to access such crucial care. Additionally, every Thursday, the hospital conducts IOL (Intraocular Lens) surgeries, restoring sight and transforming lives.
Extending Care Beyond the Hospital Walls:
The commitment of Lions International members doesn't end within the hospital walls. All contributing clubs actively organize free eye camps, reaching out to remote areas and identifying individuals in need of IOL surgeries. These individuals are then brought to the hospital, where they receive the necessary surgical interventions. This comprehensive approach ensures that eye care services are accessible to those who need them the most.
A Testament to the Lions' Compassion:
The establishment of Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal adds yet another feather to the cap of District 320A. It showcases the unwavering compassion and dedication of Lions Club members who strive to improve the lives of those who are visually impaired or at risk of vision loss. Through their collective efforts, they continue to uphold the noble mission of Lions Clubs International.
Lions Eye Hospital Kadthal stands as a shining example of how Lions Club members are making a lasting impact in the field of eye care. Their vision and selfless dedication have brought about a new era of hope and improved quality of life for the underserved communities in Kadthal and its surrounding areas. As Lions, we remain committed to serving those in need, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of clear vision and a brighter future.
