Mission Vision: Empowering Students' Sight for a Bright Future

Lions Clubs International has always been at the forefront of serving communities and improving the quality of life for those in need. In alignment with Lions Clubs International's strategic objective to prevent avoidable blindness and enhance the lives of the visually impaired, Lions Club Nabha launched "Mission Vision" on 20th December 2022. This noble mission aims to provide comprehensive vision care to school-going children in Nabha and the surrounding areas. By examining their vision, providing necessary treatment, and supplying spectacles, Lions Club Nabha is ensuring that these young students have the gift of clear sight and a bright future.

Vision Care for School Children:

The primary objective of Mission Vision is to assess the vision of school children and address any visual impairments they may have. To achieve this, Lions Club Nabha has collaborated with trained specialists who conduct thorough examinations of students' eyes. Since the launch of the mission in December 2022, over six hundred students from four schools have undergone vision screenings.

Providing Essential Support:

Through the screenings, it was discovered that thirty-six students required immediate medical intervention. Lions Clubs  Nabha wasted no time in providing the necessary medicines to these children, ensuring their eye health is addressed promptly. Additionally, forty students were identified as needing spectacles to improve their vision. The club took swift action to provide these students with spectacles, empowering them with clear sight and the ability to excel in their academic pursuits.

Ensuring Advanced Treatment:

In some cases, the vision screenings revealed more serious eye conditions that require advanced treatment. Currently, two students have been identified as needing specialized care, and Lions Club Nabha has taken the responsibility of arranging regular visits to a specialist for the required therapy. By prioritizing the long-term vision health of these children, the club is making a significant impact on their overall well-being and future prospects.

Overcoming Challenges:

While Lions Club Nabha could have reached even more schools and students by now, the closure of schools due to harsh winter conditions has temporarily slowed down the mission. However, as soon as schools reopen, the club will resume its vision screening activities, ensuring that no child is left behind in receiving the necessary eye care. 

Through Mission Vision, Lions Clubs Nabha is actively working towards the prevention of avoidable blindness and the improvement of the quality of life for young students in Nabha and its neighboring areas. By conducting vision screenings, providing medicines and spectacles, and facilitating advanced treatments, the club is making a tangible difference in the lives of these children. With their commitment to serving the community and empowering the younger generation, Lions Clubs Nabha exemplifies the core values of Lions Clubs International. Through their collective efforts, they are creating a brighter and clearer future for the students they serve.
